Pedestrian DéCollage or Post No Bills a Torn Wall Travel Log was inspired by the beautiful qualities of the weather worn and torn paper created by foot traffic in big cities like Cologne, Germany where I first started to take the photographs of construction site walls. I then continued the series of photos back in the states in Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
The visual approach to re-constructing the images combined into several individual works and shown together in a series takes on the form of a Fellini-esque parade of grotesque oddities, for example by taking an image from a German construction barrier wall, juxtaposed with a photo of New York City construction barrier wall into a new photo composition. Appropriating popular print advertising images, photographs of photos re-constructing the torn poster's disjointed messages into a new photographic art object. The recycled images are for the viewer to interpret their own message and be entertained by a new visual language.
